In order to maintain transparency and provide my readers with reliable and unbiased reviews, I have established the following review policy:

1. Selection Process

  • Books: I accept review copies of both physical books and e-books (Kindle, PDF, ePub). Publishers, authors, and publicists are welcome to contact me with their book recommendations. However, please note that submission does not guarantee a review.
  • Films: I primarily focus on reviewing films based on the genres of romance, mystery, fantasy, and historical fiction. I may occasionally review films from other genres if they align with my, or my readers’, interests. I choose films based on personal interest, relevance, and availability. I have access to all streaming services plus PlutoTV.

2. Review Timeline

  • Books: I strive to review books in a timely manner, but due to my commitment to providing thoughtful reviews (and my full-time job, family, and other side hustles), I cannot guarantee immediate publication. I aim to review each book within 2 – 4 weeks of receipt, but this timeline may vary.
  • Film/TV Shows: Film reviews will be posted as soon as possible after watching the film or TV episode/season.

3. Review Content

  • Honest and Impartial: My reviews are based on my honest opinions and reflections. I strive to maintain impartiality and avoid any biases.
  • Detailed Analysis: My reviews aim to provide readers with a comprehensive analysis of the book or film, covering elements such as plot, characters, writing style, world-building, and overall enjoyment.
  • Spoiler-Free: I strive to write spoiler-free reviews, ensuring that readers can enjoy the book or film without having major plot points revealed.

4. CAWPILE and Star Rating System

I use both the CAWPILE and Star Rating System to summarize my overall assessment of a book or film. Here’s how it works:

CAWPILE Rating System (for books): The CAWPILE system is a comprehensive way of rating books based on 7 key factors:

  • Characters
  • Atmosphere
  • Writing
  • Plot
  • Intrigue
  • Logic
  • Enjoyment

Each of these categories is rated on a scale of 1 to 10, and I calculate the average score to determine the final rating.

Star Rating System (for books and films): In addition to the CAWPILE rating, I use a Star Rating system to provide a quick summary of my thoughts:

  • 1 Star: Poor – The book or film was disappointing and did not meet expectations.
  • 2 Stars: Fair – The book or film had potential but fell short in key areas.
  • 3 Stars: Good – The book or film was enjoyable but had some flaws.
  • 4 Stars: Very Good – The book or film was engaging and well-executed.
  • 5 Stars: Exceptional – The book or film exceeded expectations and was outstanding in all areas.

In addition to the rating, I aim to provide a brief explanation of the rating and highlight both positive aspects and areas for improvement.

5. Affiliates/Sponsorships

I may include affiliate links to bookstores or platforms like Amazon, which may earn Inked Yarn Media a small commission if readers make a purchase through those links. This helps to support the blog and maintain its operation. Sponsored reviews or posts will always be clearly disclosed to my readers.

6. Response to Inquiries

I may not be able to respond to every submission or request. However, if I decide to review your book or film, I will notify you of my intentions and provide an estimated timeline for publication.
